Richard Becker is a novelist with a dark sense of humor.
His novels are not all in the same genre. The impulse arises and the words begin to flow. The characters begin to speak to him, and they say and do what they want. Sometimes, he wonders if he has any control over them.
Sometimes the words end up as a thriller, sometimes a comedy, sometimes its literary fiction [that’s actually readable].
He writes because he has to. Otherwise, the impulses drive him both mentally and physically crazy, as if he needs to escape his skin, as if the world itself is against him.
His novels are better than his posts.
Oh – and why ‘PlayThe Body’ for his twitter and email? A long-time hockey player and coach, ‘play the body’ means throw a bodycheck against an opposing puck carrier, as opposed to swinging at the puck with your stick.
